Hi, I'm David

I'm a developer and data scientist. I started programming in 2017 and fell in love with it. After completing LaunchCode's LC101 I got a job as a web developer with a marketing firm: MediaCross, where I've now worked for over three years. In 2021 I was accepted into and began attending the University of Chicago where I am pursuing my Masters of Science in Computational Analysis and Public Policy.

Saint Louis Neighborhood Schools

Data Analysis, Data Visualization, Data Cleaning, Python, Jupyter Notebooks, Pandas, Numpy

My final project for Python Programming, anaylzed the decline of neighborhood schools in Saint Louis and the potential effect of charter schools on that decline. Done in Jupyter Notebooks I utilized pandas to clean and combine datasets from various sources. I used numpy (by requirement) to run regressions on the data and matplotlib to display data.

Illinois College Persona Quiz

Web Development, Web Design, JavaScript, React, Gatsby, CSS, Tailwindcss

A professional project for a MediaCross client that I took the lead on and did mostly solo. The most difficult part was the client wanted to utilize GIFs on all the quiz answers. This made the load time very slow, however I found various ways to optimize the GIFs so that the website would load much more smoothly.

We maintain two large web applications for our main client at MediaCross, Military Sealift Command. The online application helps potential and current employees apply for jobs and manage their sealift profiles. In 2019 we decided the original app, built in 2011, needed to be entirely replaced. The dev team worked to rebuild the site with a more modern stack using React and PHP.
